WHY NOW?
Malchai 4: 4, "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. 4 Remember ye the law (Torah) of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:"
Notice that the above prophecy is specifically for the end-times or the Day of the Lord. This scripture was not fully completed by John the Baptist. As you can see it says, “I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord…” This did was not fully completed by John, as the great and dreadful day is yet to occur.
So what does this mean? What should we expect? The coming of a restoration of the written Torah of Moses (with its statues and judgments) for believers in Jesus the Christ (Yeshua the Messiah). So this leaves Christians in a quandary…”I thought the Law was done away by grace…” What do the scriptures actually tell us?
Exodus 34:1, “And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.”
But what about grace? It is definitely there. Yeshua is the administrator of grace along with these new tablets with the same commandments.
Exodus 34: 4 “And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first… 6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty…”
We are still saved by grace…by the Messiah…but we are to walk as He walked…and remember the written Torah of Moses!
WHAT MUST I DO?
What identifies sin?
The Law, the Torah, the Covenant.
What makes us righteous?
The righteousness of God by faith of Yeshua the Messiah, the administrator of the resurrected covenant.
Being in violation of the Torah/Covenant how are we reconciled to God?
By His grace through the redemption that is in Yeshua the Messiah, through faith in His blood.
Does our righteousness or faithful observance of the Torah save us?
No. God’s righteousness saves us through belief on the administrator of the resurrected covenant, the resurrected and manifest name of YHWH, the Messiah Yeshua.
Are there two ways of reconciliation with God, one for those who keep the Torah and one for those who do not? No. There is only one way, the Law of Faith-the resurrected Covenant.
Does this Law of Faith nullify our keeping the Torah?
No. We establish the Torah and the Covenant for both those that are near and far. This law that is established is the Resurrected Covenant (Torah), the one based on better promises, placed in a better location (our hearts), and administered by the Countenance of YHWH, the Resurrected Messiah. This is the same promise of faith that delivered Abraham.
Romans 4: 23 “Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
So we know the following:
We are not saved by keeping the Torah. We are saved by faith in God (YHWH) and His Countenance (the Messiah), the administrator of the Resurrected Covenant. The Torah brings death and judgment through condemnation of sin. The Resurrected Covenant (the Torah) brings life though grace and faith in the work of the redeemer, the administrator of the resurrected covenant. The Torah brought judgment on the flesh, and the Resurrected Covenant (the Torah) brings life to the spirit. We are to return to the Resurrected Covenant, the Torah of Moses, administered by Yeshua the Messiah under grace and mercy. We are to have faith in the administrator of the Resurrected Covenant to write the Resurrected Covenant on our hearts.
Moses and Elijah are prophetic types of the Countenance of YHWH, the Messiah. Moses (picturing the first cutting of the covenant-Torah (the Law of Moses-associated with judgment and death), and Elijah (which is prophetic of the cutting of the Resurrected Covenant though Yeshua, which is associated with resurrected and ascended life). This is what the scriptures teach!
