Numbers 25:1And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 2And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
This was no light matter for Israel. They were joining their flesh with those who practiced pagan worship, and by fornicating with them and by participating in their pagan sacrifices they were becoming one flesh with them and their pagan deities. This was in fundamental conflict with what YHWH was doing for the redemption of Israel's flesh.
Wikepedia:
Religious prostitution is the practice of having sexual intercourse (with a person other than one's spouse) for a religious purpose. A woman engaged in such practices is sometimes called a temple prostitute or hierodule, though modern connotations of the term prostitute cause interpretations of these phrases to be highly misleading. It was revered highly among Sumerians and Babylonians. In ancient sources (Herodotus, Thucydides) there are many traces of hieros gamos (holy wedding), starting perhaps with Babylon, where each woman had to reach, once a year, the sanctuary of Militta (Aphrodite or Nana/Anahita), and there have sex with a foreigner, as a sign of hospitality, for a symbolic price. (Cf. Herodotus, Book I, para 199) A similar type of prostitution was practiced in Cyprus (Paphos) and in Corinth, Greece, where the temple counted more than a thousand prostitutes (hierodules), according to Strabo. It was widely in use in Sardinia and in some of the Phoenician cultures, usually in honour of the goddess ‘Ashtart. Presumably by the Phoenicians[citations needed], this practice was developed in other ports of the Mediterranean Sea, such as Erice (Sicily), Locri Epizephiri, Croton, Rossano Vaglio, and Sicca Veneria. Other hypotheses[specify] concern Asia Minor, Lydia, Syria and Etruscans.
The practice of becoming one flesh as a part of religious ceremonies was very important in ancient culture. Although these practices are forbidden by YHWH, it shows that even the pagans understood something we have forgotten. Becoming one flesh with God is critical to our redemption. These pagan practices are forbidden by YHWH, are an abomination and a corruption in His eyes and lead Israel into downfall. We must do only as YHWH commands and reject all other syncrentation with other religions.
Knowing this we can more clearly understand the need to urgently follow Paul's exhortation about fornication.
I Corinthians 6: 13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Paul reminds us that the flesh and the body bought by YHWH is now for Him only. He reminds us that he will raise up our flesh and that we are now one flesh with Yeshua Messiah. We are the Bride of Yeshua, the Last Eve. We cannot take that redeemed flesh and become one flesh with a harlot because we are already one flesh with Yeshua, so we must flee fornication. To engage in harlotry is to sin against the very basics of our redemption, our own redeemed flesh and body. We cannot mix the incorruptible with the corruptible. To share in the sacrifice of Yeshua places His identity upon us through our becoming one with His flesh, hence we become His bride. By this YHWH's Image is restored to us. Becoming one flesh with false religious and fornicative practices causes us to loose YHWH's image and causes us to come into covenant with the Image of the Beast and death.
Notice how the battle of the Images is portrayed from the beginning of the Torah through Revelations. Genesis begins with YHWH imparting His image to Adam and Eve, their loss of His image, the restoration of the Image of YHWH in the proper worship given to Israel via the Tabernacle and sacrificial services, and the revelation of the Image and the expressions of YHWH in Exodus 20. Next is the redemptive work of Yeshua placing YWHW's image in us through becoming one with His flesh, and then the battle of the Image of the Beast and the Image of YHWH in Revelations and the Prophets.
Revelation 14:8, 8And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Babylon is judged because of her fornication, which is physical and spiritual. YHWH pleads with us to come out of Babylon and to return to the Torah. Those who do not do so receive a "mark" of the beast and his image. They receive it in their forehead or in their hand. These themes are not happenstance. Being stamped with the image of the Beast leads to death and judgment.
Revelation 20: 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rejecting the image and the mark of the beast results in life. These people who cling to the Torah and the Testimony of Yeshua also receive a seal in their foreheads, but their seal is from YHWH.
Revelations 7: 2And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Those who worship the beast, receive the mark of his name, and those that worship YHWH receive the seal of His name. We do this by keeping YHWH's Torah and the Testimony of Yeshua.
Revelation 14:10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Romans 12: 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Those who follow YHWH receive the mark of His image in their foreheads.
Ezekiel 9:1He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. 2And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar. 3And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side; 4And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. 5And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 6Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. 7And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. 8And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? 9Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. 10And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head. 11And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.
Judgment comes upon the whole earth and begins at the Sanctuary of YHWH, those who know His ways, those who have His Torah. Those who sigh and cry for all the conduct that violates the Torah and the Testimony of Yeshua receive a mark from YHWH that permits them to live, all the rest are judged. We should pray that we will be stamped with the Image and Mark of YHWH. Those that are marked for YHWH, their seed will remain alive. Those that are not marked by YHWH and are marked by the beast, their seed will be destroyed.
Matthew 13:24Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
We want to be of the seed, flesh, Image, and Mark of YHWH. That is the seed and fruit which is enduring and remains, while the rest is taken away.
Isaiah 66: 21And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. 22For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Eating this hidden manna, WHICH IS Yeshua's flesh, is tied to overcoming TORAHLESS-NESS. Those who overcome are given a white stone and on it a new name which only the receiver knows.
Revelation 2: 16Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. 18And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
Revelation 3: 11Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
We want to have YHWH's name written upon our lives. Notice He will write upon us His name and the City of YHWH. He will write upon us His new name. The name is indeed new to us, but it appears to be new to YHWH as well. Could this be why we pray in Yeshua's name? Yeshua is the Expressed Image of YHWH.
John 14:12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 16: 22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. 23And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. 24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Yeshua goes onto clarify why we should pray in His name. Are we getting His point?
John 16: 24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. 25These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. 26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. 28I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. 29His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. 30Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. 31Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? 32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Yeshua is really pushing the point to make sure they get it. They keep asking Him to speak plainly and not in a proverb, because what He is saying is SO PROFOUND. The central issue is Yeshua plainly showing us the Father and that we are to pray in Yeshua’s name. Why? He is the Father. He is YHWH’s flesh. He is YHWH. He tells them there will come a time when He won’t speak in proverbs anymore and then He will plainly show us the Father. This showing us the Father is tied to praying in Yeshua’s name, asking in Yeshua’s name, and being loved by the Father, because we have loved Yeshua and the Father is with Yeshua. He tells them plainly that I’m not telling you that I will pray to the Father for you, for the Father himself loves you. Get it? Yeshua is the Father. We don’t need Him to pray to the Father for us, He is the Father.
