The Grafting of the Dead Branches

Key Points:
  • YHWH has not cast away Israel or Judah
  • YHWH has given Israel and Judah a spirit of slumber
  • Their casting away is for the redemption of the world
  • Natural and wild olive branches are re-grafted back into the olive tree, Israel
  • Blindness has been given to Judah so they cannot see the Messiah
  • Blindness has been given to Israel so they cannot see the Written Torah
  • The Blindness will be healed for Israel and Judah when the Mystery of the Fullness of the Gentiles occurs
  • All of Israel will be resurrected and will return to the life of the Written Torah
  • The two houses of Israel (Judah and Ephraim) are the two sticks grafted together by Yeshua
  • YHWH will gather them together before life is put in them and they become aware of who they are
  • YHWH will tabernacle with them and the heathen will know that He has sanctified all Israel
  • Yeshua is YHWH’s hand and Holy Arm that was laid bare and openly shown before the nations
  • Yeshua is the one come “forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:”
  • Yeshua is “a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious”
  • “Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim”
  • “It is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not”
  • On the fourth day of creation great lights were set in the Heavens for “Signs”, the Sign of the Son of Man
  • On the seventh day of creation those seeds hidden in the earth are watered and come forth “Alive”
  • On the third day of creation the waters (People) are gathered together and that which is hidden (ground or Israel) is revealed
  • We are grafted into the tree of life by Yeshua, Sion, who gathers us back to YHWH

Paul speaks of a great mystery here and it is all tied to branches being broken off a tree for the reason of disbelief.  Those dead branches didn't believe the seed/word of His kingdom.  They bowed the knee to the image of a false god.   So they are made blind in punishment so they won't understand.  This is also the reason why Yeshua spoke to them in parables, so they wouldn't understand.

Romans 11:1I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: 10Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? 13For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. 15For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. 17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? 25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

In fact, the table of communion becomes a great stumbling block to them, both to the Jews who reject Yeshua as the Messiah and who refuse to recognize Him as their Passover Lamb, and to Israel/Ephraim in Diaspora who accept Yeshua, but their communion table is with bread that is of fallen flesh.  The Passover Meal must be of Unblemished flesh, the Bread of Heaven.  Modern Christianity knowingly and unknowingly have been consuming the Passover or in some cases the communion with the flesh of Jesus being part God and part Mary.  It was and is all YHWH's flesh, Uncorrupted, Unfallen, the Bread of Heaven.  A great mystery is unfolding.  Yeshua came to remove our sin, but at the same time He didn't want the general population to understand what He was doing.

In the place of those that were cut off others received mercy that were wild by nature and had their sin removed by Yeshua.  They who were cut off have stumbled that salvation might come unto the Gentiles, the lost tribes of Israel and their companions in Diaspora.  This was for the purpose of reconciling the world to YHWH and will result in the dead, those who are without torah, being resurrected to life and living the torah.  The branches that were cut off are grafted back into their own tree.  This is the fullness of the Gentiles.  No branch boasts against other branches or against the root, but they all abide together in peace in the same tree.  The grafting is done by the Sion of Israel that removes sin.  Yeshua will gather many unto himself, bringing the two sheepfolds together once again, bringing the distant near again.  This is the great mystery!  The whole lump is holy to YHWH.  The root is holy and so are all the branches.  The prodigal sons have returned and the Father rejoices.

Romans 11:For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Israel is the Tree of Life, planted by the seed of the word of the Kingdom of Heaven preached by Yeshua the Messiah.  Be grafted in by following the written torah and keeping the Testimony of Yeshua and His redemptive work.  What will this resurrection look like?  We need to look at the whole chapter again in context.

Ezekiel 37:1The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. 8And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. 9Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. 11Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD. The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. 18And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. 20And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all. 23Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. 24And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. 27My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

There is a lot here.  Let's take all of this literally in the light of what we have learned about the re-grafting of broken off branches.

  • ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD
  • will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live
  • will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD
  • bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them
  • Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
  • Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
  • I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
  • ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
  • take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
  • I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
  • Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
  • And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all. shall they defile themselves any more with their idols
  • and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
  •  they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
  • And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever:
  • it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
  • My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

Step by step, what happens?  The dry bones are dead and without torah, exiled from their land and YHWH.  YHWH tells them what He is going to do. He is going to preach the word/seed of the Kingdom of Heaven to the dry bones.   He then tells them He will Breathe, the Holy Spirit is given to them and then they eventually live.  He tells them He will bring flesh upon them.  When Ezekiel looks He sees dry bones being gathered together, yet still without life.  Then sinews and flesh came on the dry bones, yet there was still no breath/life in them.  YHWH calls breath into them and they become self aware and realize they are dried up and cutoff from their parts.  YHWH promises them to open their graves and return them to the land of Israel.  When YHWH opens their graves these dried up flesh, sinews, and bones will know it is YHWH doing this.  Ezekiel is then commanded to take two sticks, one for Joseph in the hand of Ephraim and one for Judah and join them together in one stick. Doesn't this look like a grafting is taking place here?  One tree branch is being grafted to another tree branch.  They then become one in YHWH's hand.  Who is YHWH's hand?

Matthew 22:43He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

Yeshua is clarifying that He is really YHWH's son and is at or as the Right Hand of the Father.

Isaiah 52:Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

YHWH's holy arm was made bare for all the nations to see and he brought salvation/life for all of us.  He gained the victory over death.

Psalms 98:O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. 2The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. 3He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Tied hand in hand with His glorious victory over death is the remembrance of the whole house of Israel, so all the ends of the earth will see YHWH's salvation, Yeshua.  They are no longer two kingdoms divided, but made whole and one in Yeshua, the Tree of Life.  We are cleansed, observing the written torah, and residing in the land promised to our fathers.  The covenant is with us and our children forevermore and YHWH is going to tabernacle in our presence forever.  Lastly, the heathen will know that He resides in our camp and sanctifies Israel.
Isaiah 11 is talking about the rod coming out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.  This is Yeshua, the Branch of the Tree of Life, and again this is in the context of the gentiles, the lost tribes of Israel and their companions seeking after the Ensign of the Root of Jesse.

Isaiah 11:1And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.   And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

YHWH is gathering His people, the gentiles, through the setting of His hand to recover the branches that were cut off.

Psalms 23: 1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Yeshua is the Rod and the Staff.  But maybe there is more to this.  Was this Aaron's rod that budded and was kept with the Ark of the Covenant/Testimony?  Was this Abraham's staff, and Moses' staff?  Some traditions hold that this was a branch of the tree of life given to Adam by YHWH when he was forced to leave the Garden of Eden.  Was this the rod and staff that was comforting David as he fled the rebellion of his son Absalom in 2 Samuel 15:24-32?  What did David do with the rod?  Did he plant it on the Mount of Olives, the place of the skull?  Would the Firstfruits of the Tree of Life grow from it centuries later?  Another question we must address is what is the significance of Yeshua spending three days and nights in the ground/grave?  If we follow the events of the garden as our template, Yeshua needs to be raised from the ground on the seventh day, a Sabbath.  So if we travel back 3 days in the creation week we see the following.

Genesis 1: 14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

On the fourth day of creation we see the creation of the light to rule the day and the light to rule the night.  Notice they are for "signs".

Malachi 4:1For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Tallit); and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

The Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.  He judges those who break the torah and do wickedly and those who do righteousness who He causes to grow up as calves of the stall.  His next appeal is for us to remember the Torah, the law of Moses before the coming judgment.  Let us heed the call to return to the Torah and the covenant.  Yeshua is making the call to return.

Malachi 4:4Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

So we know the fourth day is a sign of Yeshua, the Sun of Righteousness.  We know Unfallen man in formed of the ground on the seventh day and is placed in the garden along with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life.  A type of Yeshua comes out of the grave on the seventh day, the Sabbath.  So seven minus four leaves three.  What happened on the third day?

Genesis 1:9And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.

The waters/people under the heaven are gathered together unto one place, and the dry land or that which was hidden appears.  Then the earth brings forth seed of grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Matthew 23:36Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

II Thessalonians 2:1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

John 11:48If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

We live because Yeshua cleansed us through His sacrifice and we live because He lives and rose again and we are grafted into His flesh and thereby we produce good fruit.

Luke 6:43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Let's bring forth good fruit for the gathering so we are not upset when the floods rise, because we know we have built on the true rock, the unfallen, the uncorrupted flesh of Yeshua the Messiah, the Branch of the Tree of Life.  He has cleansed us, is gathering us together, and is breathing life/Torah into us.  We are baptized/Mikva'd in water, Yeshua's flesh, that we might bring forth good fruit showing that we are alive.
